Protopresbyter Matthew Vulcanescu
Father Matthew was ordained in 2009 and has been blessed to serve as a confessor since 2015. In the same year, he was elevated as a Protopresbyter. His academic formation consists of a Bachelor's degree in Theology and Master's degree in Economics from Bucharest University. He also pursued postgraduate level studies in New Testament Studies at the National and Capodistrian University of Athens.
He was the organiser of conferences in the field of Orthodox dogmatics. His close collaborators are Father Theodore Zizis, Emeritus Professor of Patrology and Professor Dimitrios Tselengidis, Emeritus Professor of Dogmatics, both at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Another close collaborator was the late Father George Metallinos of blessed memory, Emeritus Professor and Dean of the National and Capodistrian University of Athens.
His most important dogmatic work to date is the book entitled, "The Orthodox Church is Catholic: Does Salvation Exist Outside the Orthodox Church? Are the Heterodox Martyrs Real Martyrs for Christ?". It was published in 2019 in Greek and later translated into Romanian. This book had the greatest impact in the Greek-speaking world in terms of Patrology and Dogmatics.
